Pricing

Pricing is always the big question, isn't it? Here's how I actually think about it.

I just need to make enough every month to feed my family, and I want to stay busy doing meaningful work. Once those are covered, I'm good — I'm not trying to build a huge business, just a sustainable one. So my pricing reflects that: I go the extra mile to make every dollar you spend count, and I keep coming back to your automations to improve them based on your feedback as your business changes. Computer systems aren't "set and forget" — they need to evolve as you evolve, and that ongoing attention is exactly what the retainer covers. I'll regularly sit down with you and review what's working, what isn't, and what needs updating as you grow.

And frankly — I get bored, and I want things to do — so I'll be coming back to you to ask what else I can do for you.

That's it. That's the whole pricing philosophy.

Retainer preferred, hourly available

I prefer to work on a monthly retainer, which makes your costs predictable. It doesn't have to be fixed month to month — it flexes up and down based on what you actually need that month.

However, if you just need some ad-hoc help, I'm also here, at $80 + GST per hour.

A limited number of clients

It's just me. I can't service hundreds of clients, and I wouldn't want to — I'd rather have a small handful I can properly focus on and get real value for. Pricing is set to make that sustainable on both sides.

I get bored, so I'll be coming back to you regularly to find out what else I can do for you.

Packages

Let's chat

The first step, always: no commitment, just a conversation. We'll discuss your business, your challenges, and what you're hoping automation can do for you. That helps me understand your needs and work out which package — or custom arrangement — actually fits.

No retainer required, no deposit required, just a meeting to explore whether we're a good fit to work together. I'm genuinely interested in the best outcome for you, not a sales pitch, so I'll tell you honestly where I think you should go from there. And I'll be open if your best solution isn't me.

Changing Plans

A package lasts for a month, pre-agreed based on what I plan to do for you that month. So we can adjust your plan month to month to fit your business operational needs. Or your cashflow. It's that simple.

Scrollsaw

Ongoing support for automations and systems that are already built — monitoring, backups, and bug fixes, without new development. If everything is already set up and you just want it kept running, this is the plan.

I'm just a phone call away at all times.

$990 + GST per month

The most common starting point — for businesses beginning their automation journey.

Includes:

  • Reviewing your processes to identify what can be automated.
  • Automating them using tools you already have (M365, Google Apps, etc).
  • Monitoring those automations.
  • Full documentation on how to maintain, test, extend, and debug them.

$2,990 + GST per month

Table saw

For when you need something bigger — extensive custom code, a custom platform, or several platforms tied together.

Includes:

  • Custom external coding to connect multiple systems.
  • Monitoring of external systems.
  • Hosting setup for external systems.
  • Documentation of external systems.
  • Testing and quality assurance.
  • Simple custom public websites (larger, more complex sites are possible but need their own scope).

Project timelines are communicated clearly, with regular progress updates. This is priced per month rather than per project, because the work isn't just building the system — it's supporting it for the long term.

$5,990 + GST per month

Sawmill

At this scale, it might genuinely be worth having a developer in-house — and I can help you get there.

This plan is priced on negotiation and covers:

  • Detailed project planning, technical specification, and architecture design.
  • Quality assurance and testing.
  • Ongoing maintenance and support in the meantime.
  • Helping you select the right person or company to take the project on for the long term.

Price on application

What's included in all plans

  • Desktop computer support and advice.
  • Internet and network support and advice.
  • Custom automation development and advice.
  • Documentation of business processes or any solutions I provide.
  • Advice, setup, and support for cloud products (M365, Google Apps, Xero, MYOB, and more).
  • These plans are not based on a set number of hours of work. I'll perform as much work as you need in a calendar month, sustainably. If there is any confusion or questions around this - let's chat about it. I get bored when doing nothing, so I'll be going out of my way to find things to do for you to make your business better!

What's not included

If I set up third-party subscriptions on your behalf, you pay for them directly — I'll always confirm the cost with you before purchasing. Two reasons for this:

  • I don't mark up subscriptions. There's no margin for me to add on your behalf, so there's no reason to.
  • You stay in full control of them. If you ever stop working with me, you keep the subscription and can manage it yourself, or have another third party take over.

Your protection

Taking on any service provider is a risk, and having run my own business for nine years, I know that better than most. I've built protections into how I operate, not just how I price:

  • Professional Indemnity insurance — covers financial or data losses you might suffer due to errors, bugs, omissions, or negligent advice on my part. I hold myself to an extremely high bar, so I don't expect to need it, but it's there for your peace of mind.
  • Public Liability insurance — covers third-party bodily injury or property damage during any in-person visits to your office.

I'm happy to provide proof of both policies on request.

Working with multiple clients

Because I work with several clients, there's occasionally a scenario where one of them has a priority-1 emergency — an automation I built has failed and is stopping their business from operating. When that happens, rarely, I may need to jump straight onto that client's system to fix it, even if it interrupts a call or meeting I'm in.

The flip side is exactly the same for you: if you have a P1 emergency while I'm with another client, I'll come and fix your problem too. It's the fairest way to make the best use of my time across everyone I work with.
