A customer-ready servicing report in 60 seconds, instead of three hours
A local commercial kitchen supplier and maintenance company uses a third party system to record their maintenance runs. They'd been through multiple vendors trying to get a customer-ready service report out of it.
I stepped in and wrote one for them, to their exact requirements.
50 reports per month x 3 hours of manual work saved per report = 150 hours saved per month. Enough said.

Read a paper form, have a person check it, then type it in for you
I built a proof of concept for a pathology laboratory I've worked at. Samples arrive with a paper form, and someone has to type it into the computer. The program reads the form, finds the fields, checks everything is there, and confirms each field with the user before entering it into the existing legacy laboratory system.
It handles multiple variations of the form - past and future - and uses a local AI model so patient data never leaves the building.
200 samples per day x at least 1 minute saved per registration = 3.3 hours per day. 66 hours per month. It seems small, but what could your staff do with an extra 66 hours a month?
Even better: fewer transcription errors, and the computer makes sure everyone follows the same rules and process - rather than each person doing something slightly different.

A whole business, in a custom computer system
My previous business, Foote and Flame, ran from 2015 through to 2024 making personalised homewares and gifts, made to order in my commercial workshop in Bibra Lake. I coded the entire system that ran it: the e-commerce store that processed 30,000 orders and $1.8M in payments; the backend that handled customer artwork approvals and tracked manufacturing; the artwork pipeline that made loading laser cutters and UV printers a breeze; daily shipping with Australia Post; and machine monitoring so we knew when a laser was idle and needed more work.
A full custom system is a big project, and I'm not suggesting you need one. I'm showing you this because I've run a small business - worn all the hats - and I know there are a lot of moving parts to any business. The right computer systems make the day to day so much easier.
Start small. Use what you already have until you outgrow it. Grow and evolve as the business needs change. That's how the Foote and Flame system grew into what it became, and that's what I'd do for you.

What about me?
I've had a lot of different jobs thanks to my neurodivergence and high energy approach to work. I've repaired radars and weather stations. I've programmed for household names like HBF, Synergy, and 96FM. I've built and deployed traditional servers and cloud servers. I've done CAD and 3D modelling. I've worked on a fire safety system that complied with Australian standards. I've repaired laser cutters and CNC routers. I've run my own manufacturing business and employed staff. I've worked in a pathology lab.
I've had enough experiences to know what I don't know.
